We are happy to inform you that the International Conference “Plants and Microbes: The Future of Biotechnology” (PLAMIC2020) has been supported by the Russian Foundation for Basic Research (RFBR) and the Federation of European Microbiological Societies (FEMS). The PLAMIC2020 Organizing Committee can now sponsor the attendance of Early Career Scientist who are members of FEMS Member Societies. See more information in the GRANTS.

The first conference in the series was held in June 2018 in the city of Ufa, Russia. That meeting brought together more than 200 scientists working in the field of plant and microbial biotechnology. The participants were from Russia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Iran and Great Britain.

The main themes of the conference are:

1. Plant biotechnology, including micropropagation, in vitro cultures, genetic transformation, breeding, and phytoremediation.

2. Microbial biotechnology, including environmental and agricultural microbiology.

3. Plant-microbe symbiosis, including natural and artificial symbiotic systems: legume-rhizobium, actinorhizal and associative symbiosis, arbuscular mycorrhiza, сyanobacterial symbiosis, plant pathosystems, metagenomics, and environmental biotechnology.

Also held was a highly successful School of Young Scientists titled “Ecological Genetics of Microbial-Plant Interactions”. The participants agreed that the conference should be held regularly.

The second conference in the series will be held from October 5th to 9th, 2020, in Saratov, Russia.

Saratov is a historical and cultural center of the Lower Volga region with a rich 400-year history. Saratov region boasts of a well-developed agriculture sector.

The meeting will be held at Vavilov Agrarian University and at the Institute of Biochemistry and Physiology of Plants and Microorganisms of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, we cordially invite you to come to Saratov in October 2020 to attend the second conference in the series “Plants and Microbes: the Future of Biotechnology”.
